Edward Burne Jones (1833-1898)

Edward Burne Jones (1833-1898) came from a relatively humble background but was admitted to King Edward VI School in Birmingham where his intelligence and talent for art was recognised. From school, Jones was accepted by Exeter College in Oxford where he met William Morris.
After touring Northern France together, Jones and Morris decided to dedicate themselves to the visual arts. They worked closely together for the rest of their lives Burne Jones became the principal designer in Morris’s company. After they were both married, their families also socialised together. In 1894, Jones was offered a baronetcy.
