Golden Lily was designed by John Henry Dearle in 1897, following Morris' death in 1896, after he took over Morris' company; Morris & Co. becoming Art Designer of the company. Morris' influence is shown clearly through all of Dearle's work, as he was devoted to his mentor and friend; after his death he described Morris as, "generous minded to a fault and respected by all those who worked for him," and it was, "a privilege to have experienced his friendship." Golden Lily remains one of our best selling and favourite licensed William Morris designs, it is beautiful with intertwining tulips, lilies and leaves.
