Lily was designed by William Morris in 1874, a beautiful design that incorporates the willow background with lilies and wild flowers, the design is a return to more of a powdered design as the leading lines are traced in dots. The design must have been well loved by Morris himself- it was the wallpaper he used to decorate his bedroom at Kelmscott Manor, his home in Lechlade, Gloucestershire. The house and it's contents were preserved after his death in 1896 by his younger daughter May Morris, before being passed to the Society of Antiquaries.
