The fireplace in the Drawing room, which has the most stunning carving in the fireplace.Although the fireplace was large enough for twelve people to meet in the fire was not able to heat the room a boiler and pipes were installed underneath it to keep the room warm.
This room is part of Norman Shaw’s last extension to Cragside. Completed in 1884. The year that the Prince and Princess of Wales along with their five children came to stay.
The house was well known at the time as it was so advanced with it’s own electricity, the first in the country.
