Since Hill Top, Beatrix Potter’s house was opened to the public in 1946, almost 3 million people have walked around the six rooms in the house. Potter bequeathed the house to the National Trust upon her death on the condition they keep the gardens and home exactly as she left it, to preserve the setting of the stories she wrote there forever.
We had a lovely time walking round the house and gardens, and thought we would share some photos with you, especially the fitting seasonal ones, which show the pumpkins growing in the garden! If you are ever in the Lake District you should definitely make a trip to Hill Top, it was very nostalgic of our childhood to see where the characters were born!
