Before you walk into Llandaff Cathedral with all its PreRaphaelite treasures, you will see that the immediate surrounding area of the Cathedral has its own beauty.
As you approach the village, before you reach the Cathedral, you will find the Gateway to the Bishop’s Castle which was probably built by William de Braose. In 1404 the Castle was attacked by Owain Glyndwr and left in ruins.
Proceed towards the Cathedral through the Radyr stone Victorian lych gate, which was built by John Prichard, and walk down the path to the west front of the Cathedral.
If you stand with your back to the west front door of the cathedral, you will see the Dean’s steps

Gorgeous Willow Bough blue on the table paired with layers of beautiful @burleighpottery plates 🤍 Always a stunning design to have on the table, did you know it was first produced in 1887, his daughter May Morris wrote of the design, “We were walking one day by our little stream that runs into the Thames and my father pointed out the detail and soon after the paper was done.” We love the behind the design info, painting a beautiful picture of how he was so inspired by nature 🌿
