St Margaret’s Church Ilkley
St Margaret’s is a beautiful church which was built in 1879. The church was designed by R Norman Shaw RA, (1831-1912), who was also responsible for much of the design of the interior of the building. Norman Shaw was a highly eminent architect of the era who designed many important buildings and was a devotee of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Norman Shaw himself is said to have been the most influential architect of his time, by the end of the 19th century, he was ranked with Sir Christopher Wren as amongst the best British architects of all time.
St Margaret’s has many beautiful stained glass windows by James Powell & Sons, Edward Burne Jones and William Morris.
