On a recent visit to the Grand Theatre in Leeds, I was interested to learn that the theatre was built in 1878. The theatre is a glorious Victorian theatre and cost £62,000 to build, a huge sum in 1878.
The architect was George Corson. Corson was assisted by James Robertson Watson. Watson had undertaken a tour of European churches and theatres and he had a significant influence upon the design of the theatre.
The bar has William Morris Honeysuckle wallpaper!
