Running a business can be hard work and a few years ago a friend asked if I would like to join her on a weekend away at a spa.
We were fortunate enough to see Ragdale Hall advertised and I completely fell in love with the place!
The essence of Ragdale Hall for me is summed up as soon as you arrive, as you drive up to the door the smiling staff take your bags from the car and whisk them away. It is like all your stress is left at the door, the bags are taken to your room and you are taken and seated in a lovely conservatory with a drink while you check in.
The first time I came to Ragdale I was taken on a tour of the hotel, which I would recommend.
I have stayed in many nice hotels but Ragdale is somewhere very different.
In all the beautifully appointed rooms not only was the decor lovely but they all had one thing in common, comfort! I was surprised to see people asleep, but Penny explained the Ragdale philosophy is to make yourself at home, and that is just how I feel when I return each time.
I have developed my own Ragdale routine! I still wake early so I have a good half an hour walking in the grounds. I would never usually walk alone anywhere but here at Ragdale with friendly staff around you do feel very safe.
I have noticed in the summer the hares are out early morning so I do like to watch them, they are so lovely and so fast!
If I am feeling as energetic as the hares I will go into the gym, which looks out onto the Leicestershire countryside.
Next is breakfast in bed, I know I have been up and dressed but it is still a treat to be served in your room
Then up and out for the day in the pools and thermal spa which is wonderful, my favourite is the candle pool, it is THE most relaxing place I have been, so much so if I am ever in a very stressful situation I close my eyes and try to be there!
I have no picture so click this link to see it http://www.ragdalehall.co.uk/facilities.php/Spa-Area-2/
Lunch at Ragdale is starter served to your table and then buffet style.
The food at Ragdale is fabulous and so much to choose from, after dessert hot drinks are served in the veranda bar and then you can settle your lunch before an afternoon of yet more rest and relaxation.
I have been to Ragdale at all times of year but if it is sunny I would recommmend a swim in the outdoor pool. I took our small William Morris bag with me to carry my costume, as there are changing rooms just at the side of the pool.
The range of treatments at Ragdale Hall are amazing and all carried out by really knowledgeable and pleasant staff.
This time I enjoyed a wonderful Clarins facial and tri active body polish and a pedicure, not only do you leave Ragdale Hall feeling better, you look better too!
Dinner starts with speciality breads and dips and then the choice of main course
This lovely creme brulee was the nicest I have had, the lavender shortbread biscuit was just wonderful.
The only downside to going to Ragdale Hall is leaving! but I return to work re-energised and relaxed and thinking of the next time!!
