After last weeks first episode of the Great British Bakeoff, we have been inspired to get back in the kitchen to begin some summer baking! We didn’t make Madeira cake, but we did add lemon zest to our cupcakes to make the recipe feel lighter and more in theme with the warmer weather that occasionally graces us with its presence this summer!

We had an afternoon tea- of just cupcakes, we much prefer it to sandwiches and other slightly healthy things- its sugary treats all the way for us! This was my first attempt at scones- I think next time I would make them a little bit thicker so they are easier to cut- we aren’t all natural Mary Berry’s however and we are sure all contestants need a few tries to get their recipes right, so maybe this time next year you’ll see us on the big screen!
We can’t wait for the new episode tonight, hopefully there will be no further collapsing disasters- poor Dorret!
