Our Trellis design is a licensed William Morris design that was first produced in 1864. Trellis was inspired by the rose garden of Morris' home Red House in Bexleyheath. Trellis was the first wallpaper design Morris produced but was only printed in the early 1870s when his company Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co. had enough money to finance the design. Since it's a detailed and complex design and one full of colour at a time printing required block printing, it was necessary for him to have formed the Firm before he could print Trellis. The birds within Trellis were designed by Morris' good friend and colleague, Philip Webb.
Measurements: the flat bias binding is 37mm wide, and the roll is 35m long
We use high quality cotton fabric, printed in the United Kingdom. Our printer is a long-established British printer. If you'd like a closer look at any of our fabrics, please get in touch, we send free UK samples. Every one of our William Morris designs are licensed Morris designs. We print and manufacture all our William Morris designs to our own specifications in both size and colour to best suit our products. We can keep our fabric cheaper than competitors because we do print in the UK, reducing transport costs, and we are an online retail only, cutting out the flashy showrooms! When you purchase our products, you're buying them direct from the manufacturer and so we can dictate our own prices.
