This Licensed William Morris Design was first produced in May 1882. It is also known sometimes as Brer Rabbit and was inspired and named after a character in Uncle Remus, His song and Sayings by J.C.Harris (1881) which William Morris would read to his daughters Jenny and May. First produced at Merton Abbey, it was originally printed using the Indigo Dye technique. Philip Webb drew the birds and rabbits within the design.
Just like all our designs, Brother Rabbit 100% cotton is printed in the United Kingdom.
As with all natural fibres, cotton will contract so slight shrinkage should be allowed for.
The fabric is machine washable at 30 degrees.
The cotton fabric is 152 cm wide including a 2.5cm each side salve edge. The pattern repeat is 18cm If you purchase more than half a metre within the same order, the fabric will be sent as one continuous piece.
We use high quality cotton fabric which is printed in the United Kingdom. Our printer is a long-established British printer. If you would like a closer look at any of our fabrics, you can get in touch and we’ll be happy to send you a free sample (United Kingdom only.) Every single one of our William Morris designs are licensed Morris designs. We print and manufacture all of our William Morris designs to our own specifications in terms of both size and colour way to best suit our products. We can keep our fabric cheaper than competitors by printing within the UK and reducing transport costs, we are exclusively an online retailer and therefore we don’t need to pay for flashy showrooms!
