William Burges, The Banqueting Hall, Cardiff Castle

The Banqueting Hall at Cardiff Castle is in the oldest part of the building and is also the largest room. It is a grand and impressive room, created for Lord Bute to entertain in.

Lord Bute and William Burges were passionate about Medieval times.

They decorated the walls of the Banqueting Hall  with the story of Cardiff Castle in medieval times.

The fireplace shows Robert the Consul riding his horse with Robert of Normandy his prisoner in the castle.
