Welcome to our second blog all about our California road trip – if you missed that blog, read it here to find our what we got up to at the start of the trip, from San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge and our time on Pacific Coast Highway.
As we moved on our road trip, we came across some road side fresh fruit and vegetable stalls which the local farmers use to sell their fresh produce – of course we couldn’t resist and loaded up our William Morris tote bags with Californian avocados and strawberries – so delicious. We then spent a few days in our favourite place on earth – Palm Dessert. In the middle of the dessert, it’s a little haven that we love; it’s so warm that you can swim on a night time and still feel warm as the sun sets over the mountains and palm trees. We stay at a resort so everything you need is close by – even a lovely golf course if you can wake up early enough to get a round in before the mid day sun!
From here, we travelled across to Universal Studios in Hollywood where we pretended to be Hogwarts Students for the day and whizzed round on the rides. Here we used our Eyebright tote bag to keep sun cream, hats and snacks in – plus some presents from Honeydukes to bring home!
Next was a trip up to Sequoia National Park after a brief stop at Santa Monica beach. The National Park is beautiful and we saw the largest tree on Earth – General Sherman. It’s funny because we saw so many trees on the way up to see General Sherman and kept pointing out their size which is like nothing we see in England, but after we’d seen the General, they all looked small!
To finish the trip, we went to Yosemite National Park. Visiting the Park, you’d never imagine the beauty that the Park possesses, from the rivers flowing through it to the insane mountains, waterfalls, trees and meadows. There’s so much to see here that it’s impossible to see it all, but we saw as much as we could and took some time to walk up to the waterfalls and down to some of the rivers. We used our tote bag here for carrying hats and cover ups since it was so hot and also – since theres just a shop in the village that we found, we made sure to take drinks and snacks as we did to Sequoia where there aren’t food stops, so make sure you pack a little picnic! In Yosemite Village, there’s a great cafe stop that’s a safe spot to eat away from the brown bears that live there!
So there you go – we’re exhausted thinking about everything we got up to, but here’s the highlights of our trip as we reminisce and recover from the jet lag that is hard to shake! We love taking our William Morris tote bag away with us, it’s such a handy bag that can be taken from poolside to shopping in the malls – with different sizes, whether you’re carrying your flip flops and sun cream to your new purchases, there’s a bag for everything – even for when you’re hiking up a remote mountain in a beautiful National Park!
