Compton was originally commissioned for Mr Lawrence Hodson's Compton Hall, Wolverhampton in which William Morris was redesigning the interior in 1896. This was the last print Morris saw designed before his death that same year.
The cotton drill is the heaviest fabric cotton we print on and the 100% cotton cloth, just like all our designs, is printed in the United Kingdom.
The cotton fabric is 152 cm (60") including a 2.5cm each side salve edge wide. The pattern repeat is 23.5cm. For the fabric length, it's sold by the half metre, so you can choose your length using the drop down above. If you order more than 0.5m in the same order, it will be sent as a continuous length.
Our cotton, heavyweight and drill cotton fabric are all machine washable at 30 degrees. As with all natural fibres, cotton will contract so slight shrinkage should be allowed for. Please wash the fabric face to face to make sure there is less abrasion on the pattern from the washing machine. Our pvc fabric is wipe clean only, please wipe with warm soapy water to wash.
