Compton was originally commissioned for Mr Lawrence Hodson's Compton Hall, Wolverhampton in which William Morris was redesigning the interior in 1896. This was the last print Morris saw designed before his death that same year.
Our heavyweight fabric is suitable for many different projects, it's a heavier weave than the 100% cotton fabric, and suitable for projects such as curtains and light upholstery.
The 100% cotton heavyweight fabric is printed in the United Kingdom, just like all our cloth.
The cotton fabric is 152 cm(60") wide including a 2.5cm each side salve edge. The Compton pattern repeat is 23.5cm. For the fabric length, it's sold by the half metre, so you can choose your length using the drop down above. If you order more than 0.5m in the same order, it will be sent as a continuous length.
