This Trellis apron is a one of a kind apron with a photo of William Morris on the front with his signature on the bottom with 'William Morris' at the top. It includes the most famous quote at the bottom "have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful."

Trellis was designed in 1864 by William Morris, inspired by the rose trellis in the garden of Red House - his home in Bexleyheath. Trellis was the first wallpaper Morris designed, along with Daisy and Fruit; since they were all produced using a hand-printing process, it took a long time to do and therefore was expensive.
Each colour within the design required a separate block - so these three designs, with 12 blocks each required to create the intricate patterns, were put on hold until the early 1870s when Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co. had enough money to finance the designs.
The birds within the design, as with other patterns with naturistic elements, were designed by his good friend Philip Webb.

Our licensed designs by William Morris, are printed both size and colour-wise to our own specifications to best suit our products.
This Drill apron is 54.5 cm Wide by 75 cmLong and has cotton ties. Each waist tie is 50.4 cm long.
As with all our products, our Trellis apron has been printed and manufactured in the United Kingdom.
