A William Morris Face Mask

3rd August 2020

We hope you’re all well, we thought this face mask themed of blog was pretty relevant right now! Who knew 2020 fashion would include wearing a mask! Coordinated to your outfit, clashing prints, adding a pop of colour, it’s all going on!

We’ve seen lots of you making masks using our fabric, and though we want to just mention that they’re not medical grade and you can always get a pattern to add in a filter, they’re more a face covering than a medical grade mask. But – they’re a requirement of life these days, so we might as well make it chic!

Here’s some inspiration for masks that you’ve all made and sent us photos of to look at. There’s lots of patterns online and some great Youtube videos to search through if you’d like someone to walk you through it.

If you do make any, make sure to show us! Send photos to [email protected] and we’ll send you a 20% discount code for your next order on our website!

A collection of masks

We were tagged in these lovely photos of these face masks on Instagram by  @phillips_jeanette – what a wonderful selection! If we’re honest, we can’t ever really pick which our favourite Morris fabric design is, and by having various designs within your face mask collection, you don’t need to choose!

For family and friends

Ruth sent us a photo of these masks in a variety of designs that she made for family and friends. A lovely little gift for everyone, they’re always welcome in 2020 aren’t they! The great thing about having multiple cotton masks is that you always have one clean whilst the others are in the wash!

A Golden Lily Mask

Tilly sent us this Golden Lily mask and let us know she’d made others, her next project is a skirt, which we can’t wait to see Tilly!

A National Trust Project

Judy sent us this lovely email, “thank you for your prompt dispatch of my beautiful fabric. I am a National Trust volunteer at Wightwick Manor in Wolverhampton.  This beautiful 1887 house is full of William Morris designs and the masks are for friends who are volunteers to wear to welcome visitors who will be returning when the house reopens.” We think that’s a lovely idea and what a nice gift for fellow volunteers! Wightwick Manor is so beautiful, we can’t wait to visit when it’s reopen!
A bit of a different blog, but so relevant for the current climate! We hope you make a mask and enjoy wearing it, adding a pop of colour into your outfit. Just remember as before, these aren’t medical grade and we would advise to put a filter in and also wear multiple layers of fabric if possible to make them a little thicker through pleating, but you can find lots of great patterns online.
