19th January 2023
If you’re anything like us, when all the Christmas glitter and sparkles come down, the home can sometimes feel a little lackluster. Personally we find that what looked minimal in November feels like it needs cheering up amongst the January days. So what can we do to solve it? By injecting some colour and using William Morris florals of course! Whether it’s a quick fix with one of our William Morris tea towels to throw over the sink to cheer it up, a new tablecloth to host dinner parties on, a new cushion for the couch or a larger project such as some new Morris curtains, we’ve got a whole lot of options!
Let’s start with some quick pops of William Morris florals with some kitchenware. His designs are artwork, so we should display them! A tea towel over the sink and an oven glove hung from the oven; stylish and practical!
Moving onto our William Morris tablewear! The table is where everyone sits round daily and chats about their day, so why not make it just a little bit more elevated with our range of William Morris tablecloths and matching napkins and placemats! Our pvc fabric by the half metre is perfect for using as a tablecloth as it won’t fray so you don’t need to hem it! 140cm wide, it’s sold in length by the half metre and is wipe clean.
Craft some accessories! We’ve got lots of crafting ideas using our William Morris fabrics on our blog, go check out our inspiration section to see more ideas. There’s so much you can make from our fabric, including things like a cushion for window seat or sofa to add in some colour and refresh a space with minimal cost, it’s amazing what you can make using half a metre of fabric and what a difference it can make in an area. We always think that little pops of florals around the home bring nature and sunshine indoors and it doesn’t take a lot to do this. Reupholstering using our William Morris fabric is a great way to upcycle what you already have. We’re big fans of reimagining items by giving them a lick of paint and some new upholster, all you’ll need is a spare few hours and a staple gun!
This also works brilliantly on finds from Facebook marketplace and charity shops to upcycle them and make them your own. It’s amazing what you can take that you like the shape of or the design of and reupholster to give it a whole new lease of life and make it fit your space and style.
There’s also some larger projects you can do, including making blinds and curtains from our licensed Morris fabrics. We’ve got a lot of designs that we print in the UK, all licensed William Morris fabrics. We’d reccomend our heavyweight fabric for curtains, if you’d like a sample we send free samples within the UK, please just send us a message with your name and design and we’ll sort that out for you.
Breathing new life into the home isn’t just for January either, we love florals and colour in the home year-round. The great thing about them is that they’re all tips and tricks that can be rotated throughout the year. And there you have it, easy ways to incorporate some William Morris florals into your home! Be sure to tag us in your photos if you use any of our tips!
All our fabrics are printed and products manufactured in the United Kingdom and are all licensed William Morris designs that are printed both size and colour wise to our own specifications.

We’re often asked what the different weights of our fabrics are and what projects they’d be good for. These are our three different types of fabrics in our Brother Rabbit red colourway - cotton on the right, heavyweight in the middle and pvc on the left ✨ As you can see on the second photo, and as the name suggests, our heavyweight fabric has a thicker, heavier weave which makes it good for projects such as curtains and light upholstery 🪡 Our cotton fabric is perfect for quilting and projects such as dress making but honestly the amount of crafts that can be made out of them both are endless! 🫶🏻 Our pvc fabric is great to put straight on the table as it won’t fray so doesn’t need a hem and is easy to maintain as it’s wipe clean! All our fabrics are sold by the half metre and if you’d like a sample of any of our fabrics in any weight just let us know and we’ll get a free sample sent to you! 💌

Perhaps the most famous Morris design, Strawberry Thief was registered in 1883, inspired by Morris watching the thrushes stealing strawberries from under his fruit nets at the beautiful @kelmscottmanor 🍓 It was printed using the indigo dye technique, which was labour intensive and first attempted in 1875 but not perfected for 8 years 🎨 We also print Strawberry Thief in a beautiful red 🫶🏻

Have you seen Merton before? It’s so underrated as a Morris design we think! It was actually the first design that he printed on rotary screens under the name “Morris & Co.” After their rebrand from “Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co.’” 🌿 We’re just appreciating it during peony season!
